The Healing Room

The Healing Room will focus on chronic illnesses in particular. Especially serious chronic diseases are life changing. They present huge personal challenges. You go through many phases like confusion, denial, guilt, more confusion, grief, acceptance, depression, etc. You might loose your job, loose your possessions and even loose the support from your friends and family. Eventually, you need to reinvent your life, possibly your identity.

On top of the personal problems society can be very harsh towards patients of serious diseases. A lot of people conveniently put the blame on the victims assuming that if one gets a particular disease this only happens because of leading an unhealthy or unmoral life. Society can show even worse sides when it comes to new diseases. You then get ignored, denied, ridiculed and bullied. When it comes to it and you're really out of luck, you're left to die because you're perceived as faker, someone who should be learned a lesson.

So there you have it, my thoughts on serious chronic diseases. I hope to collect much information on modern medicine in general, coping strategies for patients and hopefully some nice entertainment resources. Anyone else who wants to add or have added something is welcome, write me.
