Midi for Netbrowsers Instructions

If you use Mosaic then there's no need to read this. If you use the WebExplorer you have to read the (contextual) help. Netscape users should read the following. I'm sorry for the many browsers I don't know of. I only have so much time.

Instructions for Netscape

  1. Click Options.
  2. Choose Preferences.
  3. Make sure Set Preferences On reads Helper Applications.
  4. Click New Type.
  5. After Mime Type you type: audio
  6. After Mime SubType you type: midi
  7. Click OK
  8. With Extensions you type: mid
  9. Click Launch Application
  10. Browse for ie MPLAYER in the Windows directory and add this parameter /play
  11. Click Ok when you have C:\WINDOWS\MPLAYER.EXE /play
  12. Don't forget Options/ Save Options if you want to keep your new preferences

N.B. In case you loaded a midi file as a text file, you probably won't succeed at reloading it the right way because of the cache of your browser. Try a midi file at one of my other pages.

If you're viewing this page within a frame, press the right mouse button and choose Back in Frame. Otherwise, just select the Back button or menu-item.
